Benefits of EPS
Ø High Insulation Value
Ø Lightweight
Ø Durable
Ø Versatile
Ø Cost Effective
Ø Shock Absorbent
Ø Strong
Expanded polystyrene (EPS)
is lightweight and strong, making it an excellent construction material and insulator in wall and roof panel systems used
in a variety of residential and commercial applications. Architects have used EPS for many years as non-load bearing
pillars in buildings and homes.
The
mechanical properties of EPS are unaffected by moisture. Exposure to water or
water vapor does not cause swelling. If condensation occurs within a system due
to design and end-use conditions, thermal efficiency will decrease. However,
upon drying, full efficiency is restored.
As
an insulator, EPS is one of the best materials available and has multiple uses as roofing insulation, concrete forms, insulated
wall systems for enclosures, and tough enough for any construction purpose. Water,
heat, and cool air have a hard time leaking through EPS and so does sound. The
structural qualities of EPS deaden sound more efficiently the fiberglass and stud wall configurations. Light, inexpensive, and easy to transport, concrete forms are an excellent use for EPS.
At
Styro-Tek we provide a high-grade EPS wall and roof insulation in a variety of thicknesses and sizes. EPS is unaffected by severe weather, is environmentally safe and its service life is comparable to that
of other conventional construction materials. EPS has a naturally smooth surface
which bonds quickly with paint or other applied products.
